Corporate
donation request letter
XXXX,
My name is John Chambers and my family and I have been Soul
season ticket holders since the first season. I work as a
freelance copywriter and spend most of my free time in the
fall volunteering for the Bohemia Manor Junior Eagles
football team. I am also on the board of directors, serve
as the public address announcer for the teams and three of
my kids are involved with cheerleading and playing football
as well. The boys and girls in our league range in age from
7 years old up to 13 years old. I am writing to you
directly because we are NOT looking for a merchandise
donation or a player appearance or a Moving
Experience.
But we ARE asking for some help.
The league rented two sets of portable lights to use on our
practice fields so our teams can practice during the
evening hours now that the days are shorter. We had those
lights for all of two days before they were stolen. The
company we rented them from claims that they have no
insurance for the lights and now our all-volunteer league
is responsible to reimburse the company for the cost
of replacing those portable light units. The cost
for the two sets combined is in the neighborhood of $10,000
and that could, and probably will, bankrupt our
organization.
Here are some links to news stories that ran on WJZ13 and
WBAL11 in Baltimore.

Our team is in Cecil County, MD, just across the state line
from New Castle County, DE and I know that we are just
outside your core market. The football fans who live in
Cecil County are pretty evenly split between Philadelphia
sports and Baltimore sports. We have contacted the Ravens
and the Eagles and, to this point, have not received any
response from either. I have seen the dedication that the
Philadelphia Soul has for giving back to the community and
I KNOW that the Soul is a first-class organization from top
to bottom. My trip to New Orleans for the ArenaBowl is just
one example of the many positive experiences I've had with
the Soul.
I know that you have a limited amount of time and money to
give and I am convinced that the Soul would ALWAYS do more
if they could. I know that. If you have the ability to help
us, where other sports teams so far have not, it will have
such a positive impact on our team, our parents, volunteers
and our entire football community and will go a LONG way
towards increasing the presence and awareness of the Soul
in Cecil County. We would be forever in your debt. I
know that's a cliché, but in this case, it's absolutely
true.
XXXX, thank you for taking the time to read
this lengthy email. If there is anything the Soul
can do to help, please contact us.
In addition, I would like to invite you to be our guest at
our annual awards banquet in early December.
Thanks again!
John Chambers
